Michael Tran, M.D.

Micheal Tran, M.D., is a board-certified, fellowship-trained bariatric surgeon specializing in advanced weight loss surgery at Bariatric Institute. He specializes in minimally invasive bariatric procedures—including gastric sleeve, gastric bypass, and revisional bariatric surgery—to help patients achieve lasting weight loss and improved health without the need for hospitalization.

With a focus on patient-centered care and advanced surgical techniques, Dr. Tran is dedicated to treating obesity and related conditions such as foregut and gastroesophageal conditions. He uses the latest minimally invasive, laparoscopic and robotic-assisted technologies to reduce pain, minimize scarring, and promote faster recovery.

Dr. Tran completed his medical degree at the University of Wisconsin - Madison and a general surgery residency at Rush University Medical Center. He went on to complete a specialized fellowship training in minimally invasive bariatric and foregut surgery at the University of California, Irvine—gaining in-depth expertise in bariatric, metabolic and minimally invasive surgical outpatient surgery techniques.

He is an active member of the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), the American College of Surgeons (ACS), and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES).
