About Me
Randall Cornateanu, M.D., is a board-certified, fellowship-trained bariatric surgeon specializing in advanced weight loss surgery at Bariatric Institute. He specializes in minimally invasive bariatric procedures—including gastric sleeve, gastric bypass, and revisional bariatric surgery—to help patients achieve lasting weight loss and improved health without the need for hospitalization.
With a focus on patient-centered care and advanced surgical techniques, Dr. Cornateanu is dedicated to treating obesity and related conditions such as foregut and gastroesophageal conditions. He uses the latest laparoscopic and robotic-assisted technologies to reduce pain, minimize scarring, and promote faster recovery.
Dr. Cornateanu completed his medical degree at Tel Aviv University’s Sackler School of Medicine, New York State/American Program and a general surgery residency at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center. He went on to complete a specialized fellowship training in minimally invasive bariatric and gastrointestinal surgery at the University of California, Irvine—gaining in-depth expertise in bariatric, metabolic and minimally invasive outpatient surgery techniques.
He is an active member of the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), the American College of Surgeons (ACS), and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES).
Dr. Cornateanu is passionate about supporting patients on their weight loss journey. He takes time to fully understand each patient’s health goals and creates customized weight loss plans to achieve long-term success.
